March is here and guess what Austin, there is no other place you will want to be! This is the best month hands down to experience Austin for all it's worth. Whether you want to get a taste of the best restaurants Austin has to offer during Restaurant Week or the best in film, music, and interactive during South by Southwest, this is the month to get involved! New to Texas? Check out our State Fair and Rodeo for a knee slappin' good time! Who wouldn't want to dress up in Wranglers, boots and a cowboy hat and see how long a child can hold on to a sheep while eating cotton candy and a corn dog!? (Trust me, I wouldn't miss it! March 1-4 & 8-11: Austin Restaurant Week. Enjoy delicious three-course meals at more than 50 of Austin’s finest restaurants for only $25 or $35 a person. It's a fantastic event for foodies on a budget! 

March 4: 6th Annual Austin Spring Home & Garden Show 2:00p to 7:00p at Austin Convention Center This popular show features innovative ideas & tips for home and garden enthusiasts of all experience levels.

 March 7: It’s My Park Day. Co-presented by the Wheatsville Food Co-op and Austin Parks Foundation, this city-wide volunteer event involves projects at over 50 local parks. The focus is on planting trees. Register for a project at

 Mar 10 7:30p: Dralion by Cirque du Soleil at Cedar Park Center. Fusing the 3000 year-old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque du Soleil, Dralion draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature.

March 10-15: Monty Python’s Spamalot. This Tony-winning musical comedy will keep you laughing. Most shows are at 8 p.m., with two matinees.

 March 11: Merle Haggard a major star in the country music singer/songwriter genre, performs at the Austin Music Hall. Doors at 7 p.m.; show at 8 p.m.

 March 13-18: Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo. Come experience Western culture with live music, livestock, and exciting events such as cattle roping, barrel racing, and bull and bronco riding. There will also be a carnival with a ferris wheel, games, and cotton candy. 

 March 13-22: South by Southwest Festival and Conference. This festival has three components: film, music, and interactive. Enjoy live concerts, film screenings, lectures, workshops, trade shows, and much more.


Mar 17: St. Patrick's Day Outdoor Festival at Fado Irish Pub. The city will be closing down 4th St and setting up a massive outdoor tent in front of Fado with a beer garden and performance area.

March 19: Third Thursday: An Evening Devoted to Cool Jazz. This free event is from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Blanton Museum. There is a live jazz performance at 6 p.m., yoga in the galleries at 6:30 p.m., book club at 7 p.m., and an art brief of the “Birth of Cool” exhibit at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
